Great Tew Estate Horse Trials

The Park, with its sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and inherent natural beauty, lends itself to horse trials. The old turf and excellent spectator viewing make the cross-country a particular highlight.

I am amazed that we are already at the fifth year of the Great Tew Horse Trials – how time seems to have flown by! Fortunately, despite the various economic uncertainties prevalent elsewhere in the financial world, the rural economy seems to be weathering the storm and, if these horse trials are anything to go by, life is as busy as ever.

Tew Park continues to be improved for this annual event and looks fantastic once again – great credit for this has to go to Colin Woodward and his farm team. I am sure that Great Tew is one of the best organised horse trials and I’m certain that a great deal of this is due to Jo Jakeman and Charles Etherington-Smith who are enormously generous with both time and energy. Finally, there are a great many dedicated volunteers without whom this type of event simply could not take place – my thanks to you all.

In difficult times, we are even more appreciative of our sponsors, led for the second year by Hartwell Land Rover Oxford as our Title Sponsor – you will certainly see some of their vehicles across the course over the weekend. Many of our other fence sponsors and section sponsors are returning again, some for the fifth year, and my thanks for your support and loyalty.

Whether you are a competitor, sponsor or spectator I hope you will enjoy both the sport and the entertainment on offer this weekend……. and lets hope for some sunshine!
