Great Tew Estate Horse Trials

The Park, with its sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and inherent natural beauty, lends itself to horse trials. The old turf and excellent spectator viewing make the cross-country a particular highlight.

We are now arriving at the fourth year of hosting the Great Tew Estate Horse Trials and this year’s event on the 7th and 8th June 2008 promises to be the best yet. Over the past three years we have continually improved Tew Park and this year is no exception with the welcomed addition of a fantastic new water jump, which will hopefully ask the right questions of both horse and rider.

I extend a very warm welcome this year to Hartwell Land Rover Oxford who we are delighted to have as our title sponsors. We are looking forward to them showcasing their range of vehicles, some of which will provide a key roll in the smooth running of the event. We also thank all of our other new and returning sponsors without whose vital support, this weekend simply could not happen.

An event such as this simply cannot take place without the time and effort put in by a huge number of dedicated volunteers - my thanks go to them all. Whether as a rider, spectator, sponsor or volunteer, I hope you have a happy an enjoyable weekend with us at Great Tew.

Finally, we are most fortunate that some members of the Olympic cross country course team are involved in the design and execution of the Great Tew Horse Trials and we would like to take this opportunity to wish all who are involved this summer in whatever capacity, the very best of luck.

Almost from the launch of its first 4x4 in 1948, Land Rover has been associated with Equestrianism. Generations of riders, their families, and their supporters have relied upon their Land Rover. And, as Land Rover celebrates its 60th birthday, this has never been more true, with the Land Rover Discovery 3 recently named as Official Vehicle to the British Eventing Team.

“This is why Hartwell Land Rover, in Cumnor, is delighted to be the main partner for this year's Great Tew Estate Horse Trials, said Graham Cockroft, General Manager at Hartwell. The whole team at the dealership is thrilled to be associated with the trials. We’ve been hearing a lot of great things about the event from our customers and were delighted when the team at Great Tew asked us to get involved”.

Hartwell Land Rover will be providing a fleet of vehicles for the use of the organisers and judges during the event, and will also have a display of the full range of Land Rover vehicles on site throughout the Trials, including the Discovery 3 and Freelander 2. Between them these 2 vehicles have won 5 What Car? magazine category awards over the past 3 years, and in 2008 both were awarded ‘best buys’ in their representative price categories.

As a thank-you to all of the visitors to this year’s event Hartwell Land Rover will be giving a 10% discount off the price of their next Land Rover service to every person who visits their display stand during the show. Visitors will need to get their event programme stamped at the Hartwell stand to take advantage of this offer.

All visitors to the stand will also be able to enter Land Rover’s 2008 Prize Draw, and become one of 20 winners who will join Land Rover for a 4 day Land Rover Adventure on the Adriatic Coast.
